Life is Long Enough…. If We Live It

A life well invested

Today a good friend of mine posted a picture of her and her close friend with shaven heads. Standing together against destructive effects of a disease in her body. Choosing not to worry about a now uncertain future, but to live for today!

Her post got me thinking about a tiny book I once read called “The Shortness of Life”………

No one wants to look back at their life and wonder why you have not accomplished your dreams.

Wonder why you did not make a difference.

Wonder why you were not there for the people you love.

The ancient Philosopher Seneca said ”It’s not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it. A sufficiently generous amount has been given to you for the highest

achievements, if your time is well invested.”

To summarize some of the other thoughts in his book “The Shortness of Life”, I want to ask you a few questions.

Are you spending you time on things that do not matter to you?

Do you make time for the things in your life that are important to YOU?

Do you live your life as if the time you need will always be there? Or do you live as if tomorrow is not a given, and live every day to it’s fullest capacity?

Are you keeping yourself from living a full life because you are afraid of what other people might say?

Do you do things today, that you do not enjoy, planing for retirement, or some future event that may, or may not come? Or that may not be as joyful as you expected it would be?

Seneca calls it “organizing your life”. In other words do you spend your time getting ready to live life but are never really living it?

It is tragic to work towards goal that you think will make you happy, only to find out when you arrive you wish you had done something else.

Are you ready to go for your dreams?
